PROJECT DETAILS

WIDENING MERIDIAN TO WHITE RIVER

This section is complete 4 through lanes and auxiliary lanes. Corrently the 4th lane ends at the Allisonville ramps east of the white River.

KEYSTONE INTERCHANGE

82nd STREET OVERPASS

will remove and reconstruct the overpass to allow for the additional I-465 lanes to pass underneath the bridge. The bridge will remain 6 lanes.

I-465 WIDENING 75th ST to FALL CREEK

Will widen the freeway by adding additional lanes in each direction to I-465. There will be 6 northbound lanes and 5 southbound lanes once the project is complete.

ALLISONVILLE SINGLE POINT URBAN INTERCHANGE (SPUI)

Will construct a new single point urban interchange at Allisonville Road and I-465. The new overpass will also accomodate new lanes on I-465. This design will help deal with the large volumes of turning traffic at this interchange and the probelm with closely spaced intersections.

I-465/I-69/BINFORD INTERCHANGE

This will completely reconstruct the interchange to allow for a new flyover ramp from eastbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Additionally new auxiliary ramps (separate from the main freeway lanes) will be added to alleviate weaving issues for traffic exiting at 82nd St. A compact folded diamond interchange will be reconstructed at 82nd St as part of this project. Construction of this portion of the project could last 3 years.

WIDENING ALLISONVILLE TO I-69

This final widening of the freeway will widen I-465 under the Allisonville opverpass to I-69. Once complete, 2 new auxiliary lanes for traffic exiting at I-69 (EB) and Allisonville Road (WB) will be built along with 4 through lanes.

VISION FOR I-465 AND I-69 (Northeast)

This project does not clearly address the issues of the tightly compressed interchange at 82ND Street. Having such a tight turn in the loop ramps is not desirable as it will cause traffic to back up. It also does not allow adequate traffic staging for the signalized intersection at Shadelans. Clearly Right of Way is at a premium here, which is what contributes to this issue.

A new SPUI interchange at Allisonville is just as recommended as being the best interchnage selection for this busy connector.
