PROJECT BACKGROUND
State roune 99 is vital to the California's highway infrastructure as it serves as the backbone for many major cities up and down the valley from Chico to Bakersfield. Several sections of State Route 99 in serious need of being widened throughout the state. Bottlenecks and congestion plague many sections SR 99 especially in Sacramento and Stockton; older interchanges are poorly designed and create safety concerns and need to be reconstructed; just to name a few. These projects are vital to increasing the traffic volume, and rebuilding parts of the highway that are no longer able to adequately serve drivers safely.
VISION FOR SR 99
This freeway needs to be extended northward from the sacramento region to Yuba City and beyond Also sections of SR 99 that are heavily congested meed added travel lanes as well. Key Improvements that need to be made are:
- A pavement management program to quickly address deteriorating pavements.
- Extention of the freeway to Yuba City and points north.
- widening the highway at congestion choke points
- Closure or reconstruction of all dangerous exits and entrances to the freeway.
- More Grade separations and widening along the route.
